A young model who tragically died after a battle with cancer had one final wish.
Sian Scale was a 28-year-old Australian model who passed away at Melbourne’s Peter MacCallum Hospital . She had been diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer, according to The Herald Sun.
She was signed with Chadwick Models and also worked with international agencies like Paris’ Premium Models and Milan’s Fashion Model Management.
The late star featured in campaigns for Vogue and Vanity Fair, and sported runway looks like Burberry, Dior, and Chanel.
Chadwick Models took to Instagram on Wednesday (May 8) to share a heartfelt tribute to Scale.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our beautiful model Sian Scale,” the agency wrote. “She was dearly loved by our Chadwick team, models, her international agents, and clients.
“Sian was a bright and unique light in our world who unapologetically marched to her own beat. We will all miss her more than words can express, and her incredible work in pictures will immortalize her forever,” they added.
Many people who worked with the young model expressed their sadness and condolences in the comment section.
Photographer Andrew O’Toole penned: “So many special memories of this special soul,” while ELEVEN Australia wrote: “Such a sweet soul that we had the pleasure to know and work with. From all of us, weβll miss you xx.”
A third said: “Such a beautiful person inside and out. Will be missed xxx,” and a fourth added: “So sad. Not just a wonderful model but a beautiful soul. We will all miss her and be ever grateful she was a part of our lives albeit for such a short time.”
Scale’s grieving family revealed in an interview with The Herald Sun that she never complained about her cancer diagnosis.
“She was determined and strong and had such grace in navigating the most difficult year of her life with such acceptance, optimism, and vulnerability,” they said. “Sian was very generous, loving, kind, fun, adventurous, and modest.”
They said that their loved one was an advocate for social and gender issues, and inspired other young women entering the fashion industry.
The family also disclosed that Scale’s final wish was for people to donate blood, and added a heartbreaking message of hers which read: “If anyone wants to do anything in memory of me, it is to give blood β it is the gift of life.”
