Tim McGraw is marking 27 years of marriage to Faith Hill, and he’s not holding back on sharing the secrets to their enduring bond!
The country music legend joked with Entertainment Tonight Canada, saying, “I don’t know if there’s a key. We always say we’re 27 years coming up, it’s like 96 in show business. It’s almost like dog years.”
McGraw, 55, and Hill, 55, first crossed paths at a Nashville gig in 1994. At the time, Hill was engaged, and McGraw was in a relationship, so their initial encounter didn’t lead to anything romantic.
However, fate intervened when Hill joined McGraw as the opening act for his 1996 ‘Spontaneous Combustion’ tour. By the end of that year, they were married.
Since then, they’ve welcomed three daughters – Gracie, 26; Maggie, 25; and Audrey, 21.
While McGraw doesn’t claim to have a foolproof recipe for marital success, he does know how to keep his wife happy after nearly three decades together.
During an interview, he shared a sweet promise they made early in their relationship, which he believes has contributed to the longevity of their marriage.
“We just made a commitment early on, when we first decided we were getting married and having kids, that we wouldn’t just walk out the door when problems arose,” he revealed.
McGraw also emphasized the importance of honesty in their family dynamic, describing how they’re always “brutally honest” with each other.
“Faith and I were going to raise our girls to be strong, independent and fierce and have their own minds and have their own opinions,” he added. “And sometimes I go, ‘Dang, do we want them to be that independent and strong?’ But yeah, we’re so proud of them.”
McGraw, who has ventured into acting alongside his music career, including notable roles in films like ‘The Blind Side’ with Sandra Bullock, has openly discussed his 15-year journey to sobriety and the unwavering support he’s received from Hill.
“She’s always been my rock. She’s my rock in everything that I do. I don’t think I could stand up straight without leaning on her in everything that I do,” McGraw has previously shared
